Urgent - Work permit extension with new employer

Hello all,

I am going to change my employer and apply work permit extension with new employer. I have valid work permit (with old employer) and TRV until September 2017. However, I came back to my country for vacation. My questions are as follows

1. Can I choose Canada as my present country of residence though I am not in Canada now? Will it affect my application?

2. Do I need new TRV to return to canada? I have one until 2017?

Experts please advice me.
