Urgent Passport based on Declaration about Road trip to USA

Hi,

I would like to know if anyone has applied Urgent Canadian passport mentioning about important road trip to USA? Do they expect letter or they need some kinda of mail print out that you really need to be there to attend some meeting/training or conference?

You must provide proof of urgent travel, per the Passport Canada website:

You must provide proof of travel for urgent service. You may also need to provide it for express service.

Proof of travel can be:

• an airline, bus or train ticket
• a written declaration, if travelling by car
• a travel itinerary showing travel proof of payment
• proof of illness or death in the family requiring immediate travel

Given it’s by road, conference booking paperwork and hotel bookings etc are likely your best bet here.

If it’s for work a letter from manager about need for you to be there signed and dated in ink (ie: not printed) could also help.

If you are going by road, do you actually NEED to have a Canadian passport? Your own passport and citizenship certificate might be sufficient.

This is an odd reason.

You don't need a Canadian passport to do this.

Now i have meeting/work in US , then flight from there to India after few days.

Given the original posters icon I'm assuming their original passport was Indian and you don't really want to travel with that one after becoming a Canadian if possible. Especially if going to fly to India then back to Canada by air.

And I believe CBSA still prefers a Canadian passport to enter Canada again by land, you don't need it, but should have it, it would certainly make life easier. Plus there's the fact that many passports require a Visa or ESTA to enter the US, Canadian ones don't need this.

It might have been a good idea to present the whole story in the original post... There was no mention of flights being involved.
