We got word from the foreign consulate today that they are ready to finalize my mom's PR. They need her passport (which they actually already have!), but also request it has 12 months validity (and it only has 6).
There's no easy way to renew her passport because it actually has to expire in her current resident country before they will issue a new one. Her medical results would also only be valid until late October.
Our inclination is to confirm with them that she will immigrate before the current passport expires and then see what happens. It's that, or I suspect 12 months of delay of renewing passports and redoing medical.
Has anyone else run into this?
