Here is the situation of me:
I applied for my BOWP in Dec, 2024 which has been more than 6 months. It is still under process while my original PGWP will expire within 20 days, (PGWP expires in July 2025). Based on IRCC latest estimated processing time online, it says for initial or extension of work permit will take more than 200 days now.
I called my HR and they let me upload the BOWP application extension letter where it mentions a valid date for working. However, I applied in Dec 2024 and the valid date on that extension letter is June 2025, which is even before my PGWP expiry date as I applied pretty early. Since the BOWP waiting time is getting longer and longer. I know I'm in maintained status even if my PGWP expires, but my HR told me I have to upload that extension letter or any other IRCC official document to prove the valid date for me to work here after PGWP expires. In this case, either the BOWP itself or the extension letter will be the solution. Unfortunately, the valid date on my extension letter is valid until even before my PGWP's expiry date and also BOWP itself is not approved since they delay it again and again.
I’m thinking withdraw my current BOWP application which has been pending for more than 6 months. And then re-apply BOWP to get a new extension letter BEFORE my current PGWP expires. The new extension letter issued automatically should give me 365 days buffer if no decision made. But, re-applying BOWP is technically and legally correct? I’m worried if doing this will bring a red flag on IRCC’s system.
Thank you so much for help. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks!
