Unverifiable personal history

Hi all,

I am a dependent child on my mother's application (submitted when I was a minor, but am adult now). IRCC asked us to update our 5669 forms a few days ago. I have a question about personal history - I once did a part time unpaid internship, which I understand as still needs to be declared. However, the company doesn't exist anymore, and as it was unpaid, I don't own any tax slips. I do have the offer letter and some onboarding materials at the time, and I'm still in contact with the founder of the company who can vet for my experience if necessary, but that may not seem legitimate enough in the eyes of IRCC.

Would IRCC try to verify my experience and find it suspicious?

You don’t have to provide proof for personal history. It may be requested later but unlikely. Even if they do, whatever you just mentioned or an explanation the company is gone is fine.

They just want to know that you weren’t involved in suspicious activities that may be a threat to Canada or its people. An unpaid internship is the absolute least of their concerns to investigate.
