Hello all,

I'm filling my application form out and I did not conclude my PhD studies yet. I also do not have a ECA report for it. Should I include my unfinished PhD studies in my education history?

It is important to note that I am applying under the NOC 4012 as a research assistant and part of my work experience was acquired as I was a PhD student. To apply under this NOC "enrolment in, or completion of, a university or college program is required."

Thank you.

This is not a professional advice, but from the IRCC data on their official webpage,

Should I include my unfinished PhD studies in my education history?

IMO you can't include it. As the title "education history" means something that's completed in the past, which is finished. But in the personal history section you can include that you started your PhD and its continuing. I think you won't be able to claim CRS for PhD

For your NOC 4012 work experience, as per IRCC,

Employment requirements
  • Enrolment in, or completion of, a university or college program is required.

if you are a FSW applicant - The applicant does not need to demonstrate that they meet the “employment requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description

if you are a CEC applicant - The “Employment Requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description are not applicable.

So you can provide the work experience to claim the CRS

Hi. No it's not. You are okay to include your work experience from your PhD program without having an ECA for it.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Within the "Personal details" section I did not find where to put that information. Do you know exactly where should I put that information? When you say "personal history" you mean "personal detail"?

Thank you again.

It's not in the Personal Detail section.
This can be added after you receive the ITA, There is a section " Personal History". This is the application submission towards AOR
