Just to update, got my work permit despite my unauthorized work. I think honesty really helps officers to overlook your mistake.
What do you think I should do? I had unauthorized work as well but I did not misrepresent myself. I put it down as well in the box asking if I’ve worked unauthorized bfr. Should I still explain further even tho I wrote a letter of explanation covering my entire situation and how I was denied in my first appliction

Have you been rejected once?
Have you unauthorized work between you letter of completion and applying for pgwp?

Yes I was rejected bfr because I applied with my permit expired but I did not restore because I was advised by cic agents not to. But while waiting for my decision at the time I had no clue I’d be rejected so I worked thinking I had implied status. I’ve since gone back to my home country and reapplied as I was within my 180 days but idk if that work will affect my application. I have studied in Canada for 5 years straight without any breaks.

You have your conversations with the agent, so you can show them that you really did not know what should you do at the time. I think being clear to them will be helpful and it is possible that they overlook your unauthorized work based on the facts you provided in your explanation letter. Hope they be not that much strict with our ignorance as we passed so many hard days to reach this stage of our life!

found out that if your work if unauthorized only because you worked beyond when you’re supposed to then you can still receive your work permit. If it’s for multiple reason then you won’t unless 6 months have passed. I think you will be fine

Hey guys.. My PGWP was approved for 3 years..
I applied on 23rd November 2019 and got it on 19th Feb 2020..
I worked unauthorized from September to November thinking that my CO-OP visa is enough.. I felt so miserable for the past few months..
Now I can breathe..
Good luck to everyone who are waiting for theirs..

Happy to hear,
Have you submitted any explanation letter?

Hey man congrats! Just to help inform better, you said you had a coop visa? But did you have any work permit or study permit at the time you started working?
yeah i had a work term visa.. but my work term rolled over to a term position which required a work visa.. the work term was a part of my course..

Thank you!
I think we have to let people around us get aware of regulations.
Please let your friends know how the regulations are. It is not a good experience.
so true.. i almost vomited my heart when i got the update email as I thought it was a rejection..

Okay so if I’m understanding correctly, while working your work term without an actual work visa you still had a valid study permit tho?

So you declared your unauthorised work honestly and they didn't take any issue with it right? I have heard that they are lenient on this type of unauthorised work (between graduation and applying for PGWP) but are harsh on intentional overworking (more than 20 hours per week during studies).
I did not declare coz I knew about it much later.. by the time I was half way through the processing time..
