Hey guys,

I just read somewhere (unreliable source), that tuition fees are greater for international students than for Canadian citizens. Is this true? If yes, why is this the case? Any links/sources would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

You only need to check any college or University website to see this difference sometimes as much as 3 times or more expensive. This is fairly standard in other countries as well such as Australia or UK for example.

As for a reason why difficult to say given the actual costs to the institution apart from providing an international student support department, costs for tuition are likely identical domestic versus international.

It could be to ensure that international students are serious about attending and fully committed as part of the study permit application , not using as a vehicle simply for a future PR application or could simply be a cash generating scheme that goes towards subsidising the domestic attendees.

Definition of a domestic student would be either a PR or a citizen, everyone else pays international fees.

Why do you ask this question? How much do you in your own country?
