Hey all, quick question regarding this. I know what I need to get translated, notarized, etc, but I was wondering something. It's cheaper for my wife (Who's in russia) to get everything translated, an affidavit, and notarized copy of the original certificate. It'll literally save us hundreds to do it this way rather than I get everything done here in Canada.

So my question is, can she get all this done in Russia, then scan and send me copies of everything, and then I use this in the sponsorship?

Aka, I would have a scanned copy of the certified translation, of the affidavit, and of the notarized copy of the original. Since I know Canada doesn't take originals of these, I'm guessing this would be okay to do? Or does everything HAVE to take place in Canada?

Thanks all.

I don't think that would work. She needs to send you the original notarized copy + translation. I think it would still be cheaper to translate everything there and then use something like DHL to send everything to you.

See that's where I'm confused. They say they don't want originals (unless noted), so I don't see why I can't just get those copies scanned and emailed to me. I mean, if I got the translation done here, I would copy that and send them a copy, not the actual document that was translated (incase they lose it or whatever). Same with the notarized copy=\.

I keep getting different answers about what exactly to send t.t

Thank you, this I knew, but can I make a copy of the certified one and send that copy? (incase they lose it), or do I send the actual certified one?

Ty very much for your patience :)

Your marriage certificate doesnt have to be the original, however the NOTARIAL COPY of the marriage certificate and/or affidavit has to have original stamp and signature of whomever notarized it.

They don't need original documents, but they do want originally certified copies. I.e. originals OF copies. In other words you cannot send a copy of a copy.

There are no different answers, you are just confused. They don't want original of the actual document. You wouldn't send anyone your pasport by mail, would you?
But when it comes to notarized copies and translations you have to send the originals. They have a special seal on them and a signature, so you can't just send a photocopy of that.
