Anybody out there have experience with doing this?

My IEC open work permit will expire in August. I plan to begin my study in September. I really need to max out my work permit and I realise I will have a couple of weeks sitting around waiting for the course to start but the question is, when applying for a study permit from within Canada, can we just flagpole at the border to activate it once its been granted?

How will you prove at border that you have been approved for permit online? You don't any approval letter in Canada but a straight permit by mail (with in 2 weeks).

1 Plus only US citizens can apply at the border for an SA without a LOI

Thank you for clarification J5M and PMM, I really appreciate.

Could I be correct in saying that the Study Permit would officially commence from the date my course starts? I'm a little unsure of how I would transition from a work permit to a study permit, given the fact I have a couple of weeks gap between the end of work permit and until the course starts.
