Hi guys.
Just a little update.
April 21st - Landing
June 21st - my wife and I received PR cards (no card for daughter)
August 29th - received note from CIC that we need send new photos for our daughter and we canceled her airplane ticket (she was intend to go to our home country)
September 5th - send new photos to CIC
So, we need to waiting for her PR card few more months.
We are happy because we has become permanent residents but when will this waiting finished finaly? We are totaly exhausted.
Someone from this forum has give a good advice ... find a hobby when waiting. That will keep us busy and save a lots of nerves.

I think I am seeing a pattern.

For those that got approved and issued COPR last year the COPR still have the 35x45mm photos on them along with a visa validity of 6 months which takes us to around April / May 2016 before they expired.

Thus when we all landed this year, what was attached to our COPR was the 35x45mm photos. However, for those that are landing on June / July they might have gotten their COPR on January when the new pictures are already required thus they are sporting the 50x70mm photos.

Of course there are outliers wherein some have 35x45mm photos where issued probably this was the transition period of the card production machines. However, I think the main reason was that the photo specification changed and the people that were granted COPR late last year did not get any advice that photos will need to be re-taken etc. or we didn't check it with the new specifications (I know I did not because I was too exhausted with the whole process of waiting that time)

Anyway, I think as a rule is if you submitted your COPR when you land with a 35x45mm photo around April or onwards then expect a photo request. If you are just landing, IT wouldn't hurt to include a 50x70mm photo as part of the documents you submit at the landing proceedings.

Of course there could be other reasons like shadow / etc. but I think what I described was the case for me. What I failed to take account of is that the officer at the landing proceedings is not the ultimate say whether a picture passes or not.

So two things:

1. When did you get your COPR? Was it last year?
2. When you landed did you provide a picture of 35x45mm or 50x70mm?

1. CoPR in Dec 2015
2. 50X70mm pic on CoPR. Immigration officer did not ask for photos when we landed.

I was asked to resubmit the photos.

Any idea if after receiving the photos we join the queue at the back or processing of PR cards starts immediately?

Me too...landed on 27th April with my Spouse in Toronto and still waiting for the PR card. No re submission of photo has been requested. My friends who landed in Niagara in 1st week of May have already received their PR cards last months.

I appreciate this is complaining about being fortunate, but I just heard post I sent to the UK from Canada last Thursday arrived.
Yet apparently my PR card from Ottawa to Toronto dispatched Tuesday has still not arrived.

I guess I'm posting this for two reasons, firstly because I'm having a generic gripe about Canada Post and am still not 100% convinced CIC actually sent my card given the number of people who get told when calling "oh we just sent it"; but also to point out that at least some of the delays here could be due to Canada Post, and not just the CIC.

Still, I'll update should it ever arrive.

Hi guys,

For those that landed last April, have you tried calling CIC call center? I have not yet received any formal photo request but when I called the call center, the agent sent me the letter below.

"Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Permanent Resident card - Photo retake required
If you applied for a Permanent Resident card (PR card) and the Case Processing Centre requires that you provide two new photos, you must send them according to the photo specifications with, if available, the letter/email received to this effect or an explanation letter (including your complete name, date of birth and UCI) to the following address:
Address for new PR:
Case Processing Centre - PRC
P.O. Box 4500
Sydney, Nova Scotia
B1P 6L1
Address for existing PR (e.g., PR card replacement):

So I went ahead and got my photo taken with a letter explaining that I am resubmitting my photos and my UCI number and name/birthday. I did not include IM5455 since it wasn't asked in the letter (is this OK?)

Anyway please give CIC a call. They mentioned that it takes 5 days since they trigger the notification for the email to be sent out. The agent was just kind enough to email it to me.

i am planning to land at niagara this/next weekend. would it help if i retake my photos now and provide them to the officers when i land....?

For those waiting for PR card for more than 60 days, it is better you call the call-centre. When i called them them they were like "we had sent you an email yesterday regarding new photos" - Yesterday was sunday btw and the email they send me letter that day's date.

Please call and confirm. The waiting time can be very annoying but it is what it is!

Carry a new set of photos. Request the officer to kindly take extra photos with the copy of CoPR. And then pray!

I don't think it really matters either way, its just bad luck

When I got my PPR request it was for 50mmx70mm photos and I did an inland landing and didn't submit new photos.
