May be quite tough given that your study permit expires so soon. If you haven’t applied yet there is a good chance you won’t receive a response or a stamped passport by Christmas.

You are running quite short on time to get a TRV approved before Christmas. I would recommend you submit your application as soon as possible.

You will want to show a bank statement with sufficient savings to show that you can cover your flight and expenses in Canada. You will also want to show that you plan to return to the UK after the holidays. The best way to show this is through providing an enrollment letter from your school stating that you are enrolled in the next semester and by paying your fees for the next semester in advance if possible (this may not be possible). If you and/or your wife are working, show proof of employment as well. Also show proof of the property you either own or rent in the UK.
