We will be landing in Canada in december 2016. Our intended province of Residence is Alberta so, we are planning to complete our immigration landing process in Calgary. However, the most convenient flight we got will take us though Pearson Intl Airport in Toronto. We will have a few hours of airport layover after which we take a connecting flight to Calgary. Seeing as Toronto will be our first point of 'landing', will this affect out intention to complete the landing process in Calgary? Does this mean we will have to complete the immigration landing process in Toronto? We have our connecting flight to calgary from toronto , on the same terminal so we dont have to change the terminal.

Please let me know your thoughts. we have only two hours of lay over at toronto.

You have to complete immigration landing at Toronto that being first POE and 2 hours may not be enough. This is because Toronto to Calgary is a domestic flight so no immigration when you land in Calgary.

Just as Bs65 said, you need to do your landing at Toronto since your flight to Calgary will be a domestic one and there's no immigration when you get to Calgary.

Although you don't have to change terminals, have in mind that you'll have to get your luggage in Toronto and put it yourself for the flight to Calgary. Two hours seem tight but I guess it depends on how much people are at the immigration offices.

Good luck.

There is also no reason why you HAVE to land in Calgary if you intend to reside there, it's completely ok to land in Toronto and then fly on to Calgary.
