A cover letter isn't required; it's primarily a throw-back to when the BOWP was first launched and immigration officers weren't familiar with them.

Give your Client ID, Date and address of the immigration officer at the top.

"Dear Consular Officer,

Please find enclosed my application for a Bridging Open Work Permit. I have submitted an application for Permanent Residence under the CEC/PNP/FSW/FST program and have received my Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR), which is XXXXX.

Thank you for your consideration,

Jimmy Bob

Anything along those lines is more than sufficient.

If you can afford $255 apply online & forget about paper application, by the time your paper application process starts you would be having Open work permit.

I had selected "An initial work permit or a work permit with a new Employer" , rest of the option are same blank 2-7 & choose Open work permit.

I applied BOWP 07th Jan & got it 10th March successfully...

Thanks Kota1978. I will do that

Guys I might have a weird question:

I applied for BOWP as my employer told me that he can not renew me because of the costs.

What if for some reason they change their mind?

As I applied for BOWP and payed already is there a way to get it back?

And if you ask me why I would prefer the "closed" WP, there are several reasons:
- I would have still health insurance
- They would need to pay me more then now or with an BOWP

I could put more money aside for my moving when I will get PR (fingers crossed that everything works well)

Thanx in advance

Situation sounds a bit strange, but if you'd like to cancel your application you can use the instructions at the following link:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=741&t=23

No idea what the response time is via this link. It would probably be worth calling the CIC to try to cancel it that way.

I have a question: When I finished the questionnaire online, the system indicated that I need to provide the following documents:

1) IMM5710E
2) Digital Photo
3) itinerary Letter
4) Explanation Letter

My question is what should I write for itinerary Letter? It indicates that it is a required document.

This has been answered heaps of times before, including within this thread...

This document seems to be a recent addition to the BOWP application and no one really seems to understand why. Most people note the last time they entered Canada and the visa number. Some note any current travel plans they may have. It doesn't seem to be something to be too concerned about.

Hello Everyone!

Just a question for all who applied together with OWP for their spouse, we will apply for the BOWP and spouse OWP online with AOR.
On the checklist, I assume that only the principal applicant needs the
photo? also I would like to ask about the IMM5713E, I also assume that we both need to sign the form and scan to upload?

Thank you in advance.

I am applying Bridge Open work permit (BOWP) for myself and Open Work permit (OPT) for my spouse.
Please let me know "Open Work Permit Holder Fee" for both $100 or $200 ??

Hey buddy the same issue is killing me. There is no much response for this question. I already applied BOWP for myself and OWP for my spouse. Paid only $100 for open work permit holder fee. Not sure for my wife open work permit holder fee. Online they charged only for me. Scared if its going to impact my wife's application.

Hi Guys,

I submitted BOWP and OWP for my spouse application yesterday. In terms of spouse's application, in the explanation letter, should I attach my AOR and WP as well? I didn't because I thought they will be processed together. My explanation letter included AOR and WP. For my wife's explanation letter, I only attached a cover letter, bank statements from both of us, letter of employment and photos proving our relationship.

Are these sufficient and will it be a problem since I didnt include my AOR and WP in my wife's letter of explanation?

Thanks,
Ray

I think its per online application. I Submitted BOWP+SOWP following a questionnaire online. After the questionnaire though it gave me the provision to upload 2 WP forms, it still showed the holder fee as $100.
So i guess its fine.

Yes only principal applicant needs photo.
IMM5713E both signature are required however at different places.
Your wife will sign in the 'Family Member Section'
You would be using your MyCic account to upload files so you are the Representative and so you sign in Representative section
