*I made a new topic instead of posting a question here first - sorry about that*

Hi everybody.

I have a important question since I'm in quite serious situation.

I will apply for PR next week, and my work permit is about to expire on May 31st. I cant get a new one, I tried everything.

I plan to apply for BOWP in paper since it will give me more time to receive aor. I know that I have to include letter with explanation why I dont have aor yet.

I was just wondering, is there any advice for me what to do, and when to send paper application. Should I wait till like May29th or even May30 to send it, or they have to receive it before my WP expires (that means that I have to send it at least one week before May31)?? Did anybody do the same thing recently, and get BOWP?

Please help with your experience and advices. Thanks!

Not really. There is no requirement in OB485A or any of the relevant instructions that an AOR should be attached. I would avoid calling attention to the fact that you don't have an AOR yet, and in your letter simply request that they check for a "positive eligibility decision" in your CEC application. This is what I did when I applied for a BOWP before my AOR came.

Given your timeline, it is possible that the AOR will not even be ready by the time they start processing your application - even if you apply by mail - and this would be a problem.

Make sure it arrives at Vegreville before your permit expires.

First thing you have to do is sending your PR application as soon as possible without any errors. If they return your application for some reasons you will be in trouble so please be cautious. Now the timeline of AOR is 25 to 30 days.

As you planned send a BOWP Paper application right away (next day also fine) after you apply PR(attach the File submission proof etc with your explanation letter) - Timeline for this app is 45-55 days.

If you are surely want a BOWP and ready to lose another 300 bucks , apply for another BOWP through online before the day(May 29th or 30th) of your current work permit expiry date. (Your BOWP app wont be valid if you apply after your WP expires) - Timeline is around 20 days.
If they open the application after 10 days , by the time you will have your AOR and BOWP will be successful.

Then withdraw your paper application. (if you are lucky you can save the 300 dollars)

Just try these steps if you are in damn need of BOWP.

I think the plan here was to send the paper BOWP application as late as possible, to allow the maximum amount of time for an AOR to have been issued by the time they start processing it.

Yes, that is the plan. I do want my application to reach Alberta before my work permit expires, but I dont want to loose too many days since every single one is important.

I know that Im in tricky and risking situation but this is the best chance that I have since I cant get a new work permit and I'll have to wait till next week to apply for PR thru CEC.

Hi LPS

You are exactly right.

What i thought in the perspective is to avoid sitting without a job for long days. Suppose if he get his AOR by June 5th and sending the paper application by may month end he can get his bowp only by July 1st week.

Please share your thoughts on this.

I dont mind sitting without a job for few weeks or even months, as long as I get my BOWP. I think that getting it is more important then being unemployed for few weeks.

And, I'm a she guys :)

Sorry Jil. Best of luck for your application.

Any ideas how much time does it take for paper application to reach Alberta from Toronto? I'm sending my pr application on Tuesday next week, so I'm thinking about sending application for BOWP after May20

Thanks for all the help, guys. I really appreciate it a lot!

Hi:

I have applied for PR. Now I would like to apply for BOWP. I would like to include my spouse too in the application. Recently she went to India for 2months vacation. Still Can I include her in my application or she should apply separately in India. Because online application only for the candidate who is staying in Canada!

Please suggest.

Regards

She cannot apply for BOWP when she is in India. One of the rules to get BOWP is to be physically present in Canada no matter if it's online or offline application. She can apply separately once she get back to Canada.

Thanks for your reply. I am present at Canada. I am applying for BOWP and including her in my application. Will it be the problem?

I would suggest to fill the application just for yourself. Then she can apply separately once she get back to Canada.

That's true as well. There is implied status, of course, but this would only help if she is still working.

I applied for my BOWP just before the deadline, and as my AOR was still weeks away, it was effectively a race between the people processing AORs and the people processing work permits. So I applied by mail to give the AOR a head start. The downside was being on implied status for the best part of two months. Of course this is NOT ideal, but in my case was the only option.
