Hello all.. Dami na ng di ko nababasa at nasubaybayan.. Congrats sa mga meron na visa at MR at PPR..

Most people here were saying I was lucky to have a job in 2 weeks after landing in Winnipeg. Sobrang swerte talaga dahil yung position ko is Lead Hand, next to supervisor, great pay din, in a well established manufacturing company. Perfect timing talaga pagdating ko, landed Sept 23 in Vancouver, stayed overnyt dhil nagtagal process sa CBSA, arrived Sept 24 in Winnipeg, then tried sending just-updated Canadian-style resume on Sept 27, just to experience what it feels like being interviewed here, with that position, no expectations. They were calling me on Sept 29 but was not able to answer my phone, I left voice mail and they called me again Sept 30, invited me for an interview Oct 2, feels like they wanted to hire me that day, nabola ko ata sila. They called me again when I got home and invited me to go back the next day for the job offer. I started working Oct 6. I also got approved for a car loan, AWD kinuha since lapit na winter at kelangan talaga. God is the Greatest Provider!

Just sharing this to you guys to inspire you.

Sharing this also to inform everyone na meron po bearing yung work experience natin sa Pilipinas.

May i know kung anong company to?

To those people still looking for a job, try applying at Loblaws at 101 weston. Mejo mabigat ang trabaho pero it is something to start with. And 13.50/hr dun. It's famous for it's hardwork and accepting new immigrants.
Always look for equal opportunity employers - under the law they provide employment opportunities regardless of whether you are a new immigrant, a minority or of first-nation descent. Which means for first-time immigrants, Canadian-experience will not be a factor, and your international experience will matter.

Na approve narin ako for a new car ( word of advice, get an AWD car ), mahirap na kasi at malapit ng mag winter. Ok hope this helps. Good luck to all!
In MB, yes - AWD should be considered as to the winter is harsh and driving in winter you need all the help you need. Get a good set of winter tires, and also, driving (i.e. sliding) in winter is different from the natural instinct of steering to regain control - on ice - you have no traction, so you steer into the slide, not against it. One thing boding well for those who have driven into the conditions in the PH is that defensive driving skills (i.e. marunong pa rin mag-menor) will serve you good driving in winter in Canada.

Good for you. So sugal and rolled the dice - and you came up on top. Luck is what you make of it, so ginamit mo lang ang lahat ng natutunan mo in preparing to settle in a different country. It helps also na the economy is booming in that region, so there will be opportunities if you do not hesistate. Here, you will learn you need to ask to get what you want - people here never assume you need something. Old habits die hard, and one of the habits you need to shake off is that success and rewards will be given to you. Not here - you go after what you want, and you reap the benefits of your own efforts.

And when you have something like life-changing, being in a different country - you look to tell others of your good fortune; it is always too good to be able to share it with your friends. However, you are still building up your circle of friends in a new country, so wala ka mapagsabihan. It is in these forums where people have shared experiences in the journey to a new land where you find an outlet to proclaim your good news. It will always be welcome in these threads so do not hesitate. We celebrate successes, we commiserate with bad luck/news.

Do not be dissuaded by naysayers - I have in my previous travels abroad met and have talked with OFWs, expats, professional contractors, "illegals" etc. and still learning and meeting different people everyday; I understand where the sentiments lie. We do not discount the efforts and successes of those earlier generations and batches who in one way or another, have directly/indirectly paved the way for us who are relatively new in the country - for that we are grateful and whenever there is a chance, we should acknowledge their contributions. Pay it forward - give new ones tips to help them in their settlement. That being said, immigration is a personal decision, a life-changing one, so at the end of the day, how you came upon to decide to uproot your life and start over, up to the point of what you make it in the new country - is up to you and your family - for the many factors and reasons you have thought through and still thinking of how to "make" it "successfully". Success is defined by your standards, not anybody else's.

Continue making your life as you want - and more successes to you.

"Brothers, what we do in life... echoes in eternity." - Maximus - Gladiator (2000)

Yup, that is what they say in papers but in reality may mga employers na mapili. Pag wala kapang Canadian work experience, hindi ka nila papansinin. Mangilan ngilan lang naman siguro but yeah it's happening. Good luck sa lahat! Keep the high spirit up!!

This is why the new express entry system was formalized. Also kaya ang ibang provincial nominee programs are employer driven - me work na in place as one of the tenets of a successful immigrant settling down, kesa sa free-for all. One of the main hindrances is the so-called Canadian experience which is nobody challenges - but is only a preference. Having Canadian experience does not equate to easier integration into the work environment, it is just that most Canadian employers are ingrained in their ways and do not want to change or averse to change. Up to you to think of Canadian experience as a hindrance and challenge them (ask them directly) why or just go with the flow. Whenever challenged, they (employers) cannot back up the argument.
