thanks salbakuta, ragluf, kelotz, pebbles, and everyone in this forum!

thank God for our safe landing in British Columbia last 23 February 2014.

everything went well except for the one hour delay in the PAL flight at NAIA.

and the delay to the immigration border at YVR.

the immigration officers in YVR are all so beautiful, except to their matatapang na tindig at mala masculine na boses.

based on our experience with them, kailangan na magsalita tayo ng malinaw at malakas na enough para maintindihan nila.

at ang healthcare, for the waiting period of 2 months na lang since according to our fil canadian friend here ay buong Feb umpisa namin, and ends up on

with this, it is easier for us to clear up our draft in a short period of time. so hanap kayo ng ka tie up ng bank nyo dito sa bank nyo sa atin diyan sa pinas.

sa anak kong 18 years old, we are advised to go to Adult Education since hindi na i aaccept ng Burnaby Mountain ang aking bunso dahil lagpas na siya sa edad.

so, tomorrow is the right time to look for her school since malapit na ang Spring Semester.

hope this helps all of you mga minamahal naming ka forum!
congrats and welcome to Canada!
Also un luggage checking.

Yes.

Before doing so - check the instructions on the top of each and every form. In some forms (like form IMM 5406 E) is says If a section does not apply to you, write "Not applicable". If there are no specific instructions on the forms - then the instructions as written in the guide http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EP7TOC.asp should be followed.

Complete all sections. If a section does not apply to you, write “Not Applicable” or “NA”. If your application is incomplete it may be returned to you and this will delay the processing of your application.

Guys,
I need your help. Has anyone ever applied to TWO provinces for nomination at the same time? If yes, was there any positive/negative effect on your applications? Also, if you come across such issue in the past, what does your experience say in this matter? If an applicant qualifies to apply to two PNP programs, can he do that or he has to chose one only?

Please share your experience and input will be highly appreciated.

Declare everything food related that you are bringing. As I mentioned - this is a truth test - so by declaring, you show no intention of hiding anything. Plus points in the eyes of the CBSA officers.Yes, meat products - keep clear and don't try as even if you declare them likely they will be confiscated. CBSA is particularly strict on this.

However, on declaring food items you are bringing - declare anything that you eat and pay attention to the ingredients on the food products you are bringing in. That is the well-advised lecture I got from a well meaning CBSA officer lady when I was subjected to secondary inspection on returning from one of my vacation trips. Yes...napunta na din ako sa secondary inspection and na-experience ko din ang napapanood nyo sa Border Security - the sniffing dogs, the swabbing of the luggage, the interview and the luggage inspection. Fortunately, not all my luggage was opened, and I was lucky I only got a lecture - nevertheless it is an unpleasant experience for a well-travelled person. That is a story for another day :)

Here is an image of the Landing Declaration Card:

This becomes a lawful and legal document as soon as you sign it - and anything here can be used as your sworn statements when legal action is needed. So careful.

I will direct your attention to the section wherein it reads:
"I am/we are bringing into Canada:......
- Meat/meat products; dairy products; fruits; vegetables; seeds; nuts; plants and and animals or their parts/products; cut flowers; soil; wood/wood products; birds; insects"

Kita nyo - it says "products" - and in that "lecture" - the CBSA lady said it includes ingredients in anything you eat. So basically lahat halos ng food items nasasakop. So even the polvoron (which contains milk - dairy product), the sardines in oil (which has laurel leaves - plant product) and chips (ingredients has lard - pork/meat product, flour/corn - plant products) - kasama. Hindi lang ang main ingredient.

On the aisle next to me in secondary was another filipino resident - coming back from vacation. Another hit on sniffing dogs - and there was no meat products. Pero di din nag-declare, and talagang binabasa ng mga officers ang ingredients on the labels to see if they contain any of those listed; nakita ko lahat ng sardines in oil nahiwalay na because nga sa laurel as pointed out by the officer. On the other side - a Canadian resident - whose fault was also not declaring the tins of cat food (has meat in the ingredients) he was bringing in - and was again another hit by sniffing dogs.

So going back to it is ok to bring in squid/dried squid - declare it. You know the odor may be detected by the sniffing dogs, and likely if detected - may bring you to secondary inspection. As long as you declare it, up to CBSA if they will confiscate it or let you go with leniency to first-time immigrants coming in.

/...hth..atb
This is a very interesting fact. thank you very much ragulf! this is a lot of help not only for me but for every first time immigrant coming to Canada.

hello po sa inyong lahat!

been following this thread for awhile, very informative, thanks for sharing your experiences.

i applied for the visa in 2012 pa but my mistake was to send it to singapore office coz i thought it would be faster since i reside in singapore but my file just sat there for more than a year. I requested to transfer it to CEM in January and am so happy that a month after that my file is now in process.

we've done our medicals and paid the rprf, i have submited my nbi clearance and other countries when i submitted my application in 2012 but now CEM is asking for new nbi clearance and other police clearances again i guess because expired na yung 2012 clearances :(

last time i applied for nbi, i had to ask my father pa to have the nbi clearance authenticated by DFA since i was submitting to the singapore office.

HI flor! It's good to know you arrived safe. Magkasunod lang tayo ng dating. I arrived early morning ng February 20. I had a breeze with CSBA kasi nga puro maleta lang dala namin. They only asked kung may susunod pa na goods, sabi ko wala and they let us out na without inspecting our luggages. Toronto ang port of entry namin before flying to Montreal. Its also snowing here Flor and I can't help but walk around while snowing... :D I also applied na sa health insurance and May 1 daw namin makukuha yung aming card. I'm just happy kasi dati sa Pinas tayo naguusap via the forum. We were busy getting ready and now nandito na tayo. Good luck sa new life natin dito sa Canada Flor. May the Lord continue to bless us.

No need to have your NBI authenticated at DFA unless you are using it to get police clearance sa singapore. Sa akin kasi kung anong nakuha ko sa NBI nun yun din ang pinasa ko but I have to get an NBI na authenticated ng DFA kasi kumuha pa ako ng police clearance sa ibang bansa where I used to stay. Yun ang pinadala ko sa bansa where I needed a police clearance.
