Praying for PPR. Thanks, forum-mates for providing lots of inspiration!
Excellent! You know the drill - send notice to CEM as soon as you have confirmation your medical results have been forwarded by the clinic.

1. Ung wife and son ko kasi susunod nalang after me. siguro mga Oct pa sila pupunta. Do i have to inform the canadian embassy about it?
No need. What is important is the Principal applicant lands first before the dependents, or they all land together. The dependents cannot land ahead of the PA.

tabs179 is right - get a driver's abstract from the LTO Main (I do not know if LTO satellite offices can issue this..?). Essentially is it a driver's record since the time when you had your first license. Useful for lowering insurance premiums on driver's insurance and in some provinces with graduated driver's programs, may allow you to bypass earlier levels of getting a full driver's license.

And - it will be useful to get copies of your critical civil records (i.e. marriage certificate, birth certificate, school records, etc.) - you will find use for them one-way or another here.

Yes, in the past the Ma. has always been clear and understood as short form of Maria and no questions asked about it. Now, it's becoming an issue.

Anyway, I submitted it to CEM, mentioned to them that I cannot get that dot and see if it will cause any further issue.
It is only relevant in the PH - CEM just wants to make certain that Ma. (your name) and Maria (your name) are one and the same person. Part of security checks. In the PH the general understanding was "Ma." is an abbreviation for "Maria" and can be used interchangeably - however, other countries do not have that understanding, thus problems with initial travelers/immigrants in the early days. Thus came the advise to follow what is in the BC and adjust records accordingly to prevent any issues in the future. This came to be that "Ma." is now different from "Maria".

Since you have traveled before, and have a PP issued with "Maria" and other records reflecting your name as shown in the PP, then preponderance of records will lean towards "Ma." as acceptable abbrev. of "Maria" as in your case. The request for another NBI certificate is in my view, to make sure that "Ma. (your name)" and "Maria (your name)" - with the same biometric info and pertaining to the same person - does not have any record under both names. All clear. :)

With the influx of immigrants with different names, Canada has also adjusted. Note that here the Middle Name is not used, whereas we use it as a Middle initial, and it was only recent that they have adjusted their systems to reflect the middle name. This is why in the application forms, it is advised to put First Name + Middle Name - as the complete First Name - so as to match what is shown in our passports and avoid confusion in the early stages of the application process.

Congratulations on PPR!

(apologize for not answering your posts sooner - was on vacation in MNL...) :)

sobrang kakaiba sa culture nating mga pinoy.

Ahh, how was your holidays? Was wondering where you have been. Thank you for the response.

Yes, I have been using "Maria" in all my travels and all my documentations (except for birth certificate), such as school diplomas and ToRs are all under the name "Maria". I haven't really used me birth cert, except during my MPNP application. And I only realized this Ma. when CEM indicated it. (or didn't notice it's importance).

I just hope that CEM is aware of the lack of this particular (.) on "Ma.". As NBI cannot add this in their computer system nor can they print it out in the clearance. But yes, the "Ma." states "NO DEROGATORY RECORD". All clear on both names.

Hi All,

Just a quick question to those who have
did this while waiting for PPR. Im planning
to resign from work overseas to prepare everything
before going back Philippines while waiting for PPR.

Medicals has been received & in process last
Jan 28. The only thing left not furnished is the
Police Clearance which i'll be submitting in
2 wks time. Is there any employment verification
during PPR process that might affect the issuance of visa?

Appreciate much your inputs on this matter.

Thank You

@ragulf- thanks for the insight, i'm done processing my LTO authentication in a satellite office with a price. if you know what i mean. but still cheaper than if i have to go to process it myself + effort so i just talked someone behind the counter to "fix" it for me. now i'll just have to wait 14 days for it's release :)
