Timeline for CEC + Spouse added post ITA(Marriage)

Hi everyone,

Could you please share your CEC timeline when a spouse was added after ITA due to marriage?

My timeline:

• AOR: March 24
• Biometrics (Primary Applicant): May 26
• Wedding: May 17
• Spouse added under dependent in gc key: July 27
• Medical: August 20— both primary applicant and spouse updated
• Eligibility: Completed
• Information Sharing: Completed
• Security: Completed
• Criminality: In progress for 3 weeks
• Spouse BIL: Still not received
• Spouse fees & biometrics fee: Paid upfront
• Application: Outland

Should I be worried about the criminality taking this long? I’ve seen some applicants get their criminality passed within 3–4 days, but mine has been in progress for almost 3 weeks now, and my spouse still hasn’t received a BIL.

If anyone has a similar case, especially CEC applicants who added their spouse after ITA due to marriage, please share your timeline and experience. It would be really helpful!

The timeline is extremely variable but adding an a spouse can easily add multiple months to an application. Any change your application during processing means that ir becomes non-routine processing and it becomes difficult to compare processing with other applicants. You are well within normal processing so all you need to do is be patient and your application will get processed. You are obsessing about weeks. When it comes to immigration if your timeline is substantially different than others then I would investigate. If your spouse has not received BIL in 6+ months for example then it would make sense to follow-up not weeks. You only got AOR yourself in March and then you added a spouse so you should focus on other things and processing will slowly happen likely with no intervention or inquiries necessary on your part. Would add that at this point in the year processing slows down because IRCC starts hitting their annual PR quotas for their various programs. Once that happens many will have to wait for COPR or eCOPR in 2027.
