Hello,

I have been studying MASc degree since last January 2011 in Quebec (I have study permit Visa). Is this true that I need to stay in Quebec for 1 year in order to be eligible to apply for Quebec PR? (which means I can apply to PR in next January, 2012)

If I apply to Quebec PR, Do I need to stay in Quebec until my PR is issued or I can leave Quebec for another province (inside Canada, like British Columbia)?

Thanks
Alireza

If you apply for Quebec PR, you are saying that you want to live in Quebec. If you leave while your PR is being processed, you could be jeopardizing your application. If you get the PR visa at a time you are not living in Quebec and try to land outside Quebec, you may have problems. They can report you and you may have to show up and try to convince them that your intention really is to settle in Quebec. Somebody posted about this having happened to him just recently.

Once you have your PR, you can move but it is still advisable to stay in Quebec for a few months after getting PR just in case the question ever comes up later that when you landed, you knew that you were not going to settle in Quebec and if you had actually misrepresented yourself in order to get your PR.
