Pinklady,

Thank you very much for the helpful information.

That spreadsheet is fantastic!!!!

Do you do all the up-dating? If so will give you my timelines as and when.

Thanks again.

Morning!

Actually one other sneaky question, I initially applied under the FSW class and they wanted everything notarising, but I can't find anywhere to say that I need to do it for this application. Is that correct?
You're welcome!

Yes I do update it myself. Its just nice for others to see exact timelines. I know it was very helpful for me, even though my processing time ended up being the fastest one on there. I just got lucky I guess!

I didnt send anything notarised, except for the marriage certificate. We got extra copies of that when we got married for the application and other stuff like bank accounts and getting a new passport etc.
Everything else was just photocopies. I did colour copies.

Anything else I can help with, let me know! You can PM me aswell if you need to :) Happy to help!

That's karma, right there :D

I didn't send a notarized copy of our marriage certificate. I hope that isn't my hold up.

Interviews
If an interview is necessary, we will contact you with the date, time and place of interview. If you live in the United Kingdom, interviews will take place in London. Outside the UK, officers make periodic trips to conduct interviews to countries for which we are responsible: Ireland and Scandinavia. You may also choose to have your interview in London which generally can be scheduled within two
months’ notice.
If you require an interpreter to assist you in answering questions, it is your responsibility to supply an official certified interpreter. Family members or representatives are not eligible to act as interpreters.

There is a list here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/london.asp showing countries that London is responsible for: Channel Islands, Denmark, England, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Wales

Notarized, certified, I dont actually know what it was haha! I just know when we got the certificate we ordered about 5 copies and sent one off to immigration.

I doubt that would be the holdup. If is was, they would ask you for it.

I really hope you hear something soon.

We got two original copies of marriage certificate( yeah, both signed separately by us, guardians and witnesses), just to confirm, they dont ask for notarized copies of any document unless translated from a different language, right?

Ok Thats great. But what happens when you are not in UK and you cant go to one these countries for the interview? Can they transfer your file to your native country?

Hi all,

I've been reading this thread for the past 3 days. Thanks to everyone for the great contribution! I'm Icelandic citizen currently residing in London, so we will do outland application.

Me (applicant) and my wife(sponsor) are about start this process. Can someone explain to me how it works, from what I have gathered is it goes like this:

1. She applies for sponsor approval.
- If she gets approved they will send the application to High Commissioner in London.
2. High Commissioner in London receives applications.
2.1 notifies me and asks for my application.
2.2 sends me Medical Report-Section A (Is that how I get section A ? I have been searching on their website for information on how to get it without any success. The DMP secretary said I couldn't book the medical until I had received it.. very confused).
3. I send my applications in along with (Criminal records check, passport photocopies, photos, medical reports)

Is that a fair description of the steps to get the application in? Or do we (applicant and sponsor) send everything in at the same time?

Thanks a lot!

Kolafsso...

Almost right...
First of all, when you print off all the application form, for sponsorship and the PR application, there will also be a form which you take to the medical. The medical has to be at a certain doctors, you can find a list of suitable places. Do the medical before sending in the application. The doctor will give you a form after the medical which you will include.
Make sure you get all police clearances etc, every document together before filing. Then, you will send all the paperwork, yours and your wifes altogether to CPC Mississuaga.
They will assess your wife as a sponsor, then forward all the paperwork to CHC London.
You will be able to log into ecas and see when they received your application and when they are processing it etc. But the next only time you hear from London will be either to request more documents from you, or to ask for your passport... which means you have bee successful.

If you have any more questions, ask away! :)

Thanks pinklady for quick reply.

My issue is that when I call to make an appointment for medical, the receptionist keeps telling me I need to receive the Section A part from the High Commissioner in London before I can do anything... Its all just a bit confusing. ???

Is the receptionist wrong then?

cheers

Yep, she's wrong. Have you printed all the forms?
The form you take to the medical is Part 3: Region specific, appendix C.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf

The DMP will sign and give you copy 2 of the medical report section A.
