Mine shows as background check not started, so 'in progress' is probably new for you. This tends to be the last step.

Dunno why eligibility review is still showing as in progress - all of this additional information via MyCIC is still relatively new to everyone.

Thanks! I did some more reading last night after posting and it seems they leave Eligibility Review in progress as a failed background check would make you ineligible. So once you pass Background Review, they should all change to passed!

I assume you only have 'decision made' on ECAS? Do you have access / have you registered with MyCIC? MyCIC will tell you what the decision is.

But honestly - one of you is a Canadian and can prove it right? You are CL, so can demonstrate that you have lived together for at least one year right? Well then you are in - all the rest is just 'body-weight worth of paperwork' nonsense you have to go through!

All they have asked for is one missing form and now you have DM? Look - that is 99.9999999% approval. If they had any concerns about your CL relationship, they would have asked for a LOT more information and / or called you in for an interview. Tell your other half to pop the cork and pour the bubbly - the COPR should be with you within a week!

We have tried numerous times to link the application to MyCIC, and it will NOT link. I tried to contact someone for support but that was next to impossible (surprise surprise lol) so we've just been looking on ECAS.

But yes I'm Canadian, and can prove it, and we've lived together for 3 and a half years, and gave plenty of evidence to support that. I'm sure it's approved as well, but thanks for the reassurance!

How do you know where your application is being processed? I got a letter in the mail saying that I have met the requirements to sponsor my husband and that the application for him has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing. Then it says should I need to submit any additional documents that I have to contact the CPC-Ottawa office???

The exact wording of my sponsor approval letter was as below (approved August 2016):

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent
Residence for your relative has been forwarded to the visa office in London for further processing.
This visa office was selected based on your relative’s country of nationality and the requirements of the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Should you need to submit additional information or make any further enquiries regarding the
Application for Permanent Residence for your relative, you must email the visa office listed above
directly using the “case-specific” enquiries form


As yours mentions Ottawa, that will probably be the visa office, the 'abroad' wording is likely just fixed text!!! Ottawa is now routinely used as an 'overflow' to try to help out the endemic backlogs in overseas visa offices (London in particular).

We don't seem to have your details on the tracking spreadsheet, is this something you would like to help us with?

Our application was submitted mid-September, and were very relieved when we found out it had gone to Ottawa. We had been hoping we'd be able to make the jump in late-January, but looking at the processing time (which seems to have increased since the summer), and what with the Christmas holidays and all, that's possibly looking a bit optimistic...

Your sponsor approval was 4th October, so it was only then it went to Ottawa. So from an Ottawa point of view, they have had it for just over two months. What is you status on MyCIC - the final step is Background Check in process, if this is the case then should be weeks, if not then probably more.

You know you could always still go to Canada under 'dual intent' though without your COPR?

I have a small update for the spreadsheet, it says application 'in process' as of December 15th. It also say medical results received but there's no date attached to it.
