Thanks SchnookoLoly!

For anyone going through through the fingerprinting from Canada experience: received email request on Nov 21, went to Vancouver Police Nov 22 and had them done. They were electronically submitted to the RCMP, paid $60 fee and i found the RCMP fingerprint letter in the mail today (Dec04). We'll FedEx it to London tomorrow, expecting it to arrive to London on Wed Dec 7. My research shows that comparable services by CanadaPost and UPS have the same delivery time and approximate cost.

I would always send my stuff by courier, regardless of the price.

I sent my submission pack via Royal Mail track / trace / signed for for not much less than a courier - it got 'hung up' in customs for 2 / 3 weeks then finally appeared (after much angst at my end!). Specialist couriers seem to have their own customs arrangements and can pretty much guarantee 3 - 4 days and a fully tracked beginning to end service (Royal Mail tracked it to the plane, then heard nothing from CanadaPost until they confirmed signature on delivery 3 weeks later!)

Personal preference though of course!

We opted for fedex for the same reason...better results than others, and our initial app package did well when we sent it. but always good to research the options ;)

Help!

Our application status changed to in process on Oct 20th. On the 24th October we were asked for a copy of partners birth certificate (scan via email) which we immediately sent on the same day. However on ECAS it still says 'in process' and doesn't list anything at all about the request for the birth certificate or recognition of receipt of said birth certificate. Should it?!

Thanks

Should it - Yes

Will it - Probably not!

London and to an extent Ottawa seem to be very lax at updating tracking for 'information received'. In some cases, the item is marked as received after a few weeks. In other cases, final approval happens and the item is never marked as received (of course it has been!). All very worrying for those affected. If you are still concerned after 6 weeks, you could raise a case specific query.

Do you have you own access yet to MyCIC (instead of ECAS)? MyCIC tends to show a bit more than ECAS. Stuff about MyCIC here:

In my case my online profile never worked, it kept telling me I wasn't in the system, this was despite having everything in writing. In the end I just left it as I knew having access would just mean I checked it the whole time, was a nicer surprise to just get the result earlier :)

We received some awesome news yesterday! A decision was made on our application and it was accepted! Now it's just to wait for the COPR to arrive. :D :D :D

Please update the spreadsheet:

Decision made (or passport request): December 6th, 2016

On a side note: once CIC receives the receipt (via mail) of payment for the 'Right of Permanent Residence Fee' & the 2 photos, how long does it usually take for them to send out the COPR? I see an average of about 2-3 weeks, but I wanted to make sure I'm not misreading the information.

Thanks all!

Great news - congratulations!!!! Spreadsheet updated.

I think you are reading the spreadsheet correctly, 2-3 weeks sounds about right. Please let us know when you finally receive your COPR.

I just wanted to double check that 'passport' in 'Decision made (or passport request)' refers to a request for passport photos and paying for the final fee.

Thanks! ;)

Aaah - I misunderstood. No, request for two photos and fee is not considered passport request (PPR is the final DM step if you are not visa exempt). I will update your entry. These requests are however typically the final requests before decision made, so you should be weeks not months away!
