When they extend the medicals, how long is that for?

I think that is completely up to the discretion of the visa officer. I have seen medicals be extended and I have also seen them request new ones.

Would like to add to the congratulations to B1007 and Wowzers! :D Great to see them finally moving.

I'm getting a bit twitchy with mine, status changed on the 14th (although ECAS says started processing on the 11th) but there have been no updates since. It's probably fine as this is not that unusual based on the spreadsheet, but was hoping it would have changed by now seen as some applications get a further update within a few days. Fingers crossed for a (positive) DM very soon.

So my (2nd) Working holiday visa ends on may 7th,
application was received nov 7th, CL, fairly straightforward, no kids, although i travelled for 16 months during our relationship, then moved to canada feb 2012 and have been living together ever since.

never heard anything from cic so in feb i emailed a cse, received a reply simply saying
Dear Sir/Madam,

This application has been received in London, and awaits review.

Please consult the below internet link regarding processing timeframes.

no idea when it was received etc

so i was wondering what the best plan of action is, as i doubt it will be here by may 7th, i currently live and work in vancouver too btw

ive heard of sending off an application to extend your work visa, but are on implied status as you await the outcome, which is always a no, but it buys you time, but unsure on how to do this, any advice would be helpful
so im thinking i have about a month max after i send off the extension whilst on implied status, then what happens, do i do a border run or am i on implied visitor status?

as i now stress that my PR wont be through in time, we are making plans incase i am unable to work past may 30th (using this date as a guideline for when the extension gets rejected)

i could go home to england, and await pr
or
i could stay and not work, but if its longer than 2 months we have planned to move in with friends, worried this would effect our application though, as we no longer would have evidence of living together

any advice would be greatly appreciated,,

also due to my inactivity i was taken off the ss
application recieved nov 7
unknown from there
visa exempt
cl

sorry for the long post!

As you are on an IEC visa, which is already at the limit allowed by the IEC program, you cannot extend it and therefore it is believed that "implied status" does not apply. If you attempt to sneak past the expiry date using this method, you may be working illegally, and leading yourself into greater difficulties later on.

Ideally, it is believed, you should either return home or transition to a visitor visa. Caveat Emptor...

Agree entirely.

You can get 6 months on your visitor visa when you land ( discretion of CBSA) and then get up to a year ( what my wife got) in extension.

Dont sweat it! just follow the rules. Your short term gain can lead to long term pain in this situation...

Best

Of course, at the moment, you don't know if you will have a comfortable year in which to calmly plan your "landing" or if you are going to have to run "hell for leather" for the Airport.
Must run hell for leather. COPR arrived this morning, 3 days after DM. No extension; must leave by 10 May. Is someone trying to get rid of me PDQ?

You could do what I and others have done.. Cheap return flight, "land", get SIN, come home.. Then you can "settle" when it suits you. As long as you have someone that you can trust to be the PR card recipient inside Canada...

I really don't understand how London VO are processing applications. Someone on British Expats who applied in Nov 2013 has had a postive decision made today! But yet there are several earlier applicants with no news yet. :( :(

Don't get me wrong I'm happy for anyone who completes this long process but there really doesnt seem to be any order in the way things are processed

Wowsers, that was quick. ;-) Many congratulations, fantastic news.

How did it arrive out of interest? Royal Mail Recorded, Special Delivery?
