Hi all:

I submitted on March to Mississauga for PR residence to Canada through Family Sponsorship - spousal

April 2018- applicant was sent to do medical, it was successfully done and passed.

June 2018- application forward to London VO for further processing

1. What’s my estimated wait time?
2. How do I contact the VO in London?

As I already answered in your other thread, you won't be able to directly contact the London Visa office to get any answers about timelines.

LVO is one of the busiest office, so you can expect processing to take the better part of the target 12 months, if not all.

No you definitely don't have to activate your CoPR on any particular trip to Canada unless you want to.

At most the CBSA agent may mention that you have permission to land as a PR and do you want to do that now. All you have to say is that you don't want to on this particular trip but have a later trip planned before the expiry date when you will activate it. They certainly will not force you.

Thanks guys. All doubts are clear now. Thanks again

Thank you for the reply, it really help to clear my doubts,
I just wanted to go to Canada as visitor now just got two weeks, not ready to land there for good. So when I board my flight I just have to show my eta to and when I reach in Toronto airport I just have to show my eta and passport right? Will they ask me any questions about not using my CoPR ? And the link u given just now, I can’t open it . Thanks very much
You only need the ETA to get on the plane, CBSA in Canada couldn't care less about it. Just flash your Brit passport. Unlikely CBSA will say anything at all about your CoPR. If they do, just say you will activate it on a later trip.

Any advise about this please?

wow. My wife has almost identical dates. She's Indian and living in the UAE as well.

I was hoping to hearing something by now, at least the background check to have started. But it's going very slowwww

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can offer some help.

I'm a British citizen, I have a long term Canadian partner. We have lived together for 3 years in the UK and been together for 4 1/2 years. So I assumed I could apply as a common law spouse.

In entering these details, the come to Canada wizard states that I am ineligible to enter using the family sponsorship programme, I am unsure as to why this is the case?

Additionally, I have a BEng in engineering and MSc in engineering, so would it be better to apply for express entry? However in such a case I would be required to have a job offer and decent financials right? (which I don't cureently have).

Thanks for any help, hope you are all seeing success in this process!

Hi

No idea what 'wizard' you are referring to, but it isn't a very smart 'wizard'! Provided you have spent at least 12 months continuously living together, with no breaks of longer than one week apart, then you can indeed be considered 'common law' for the purposes of Canadian immigration and apply under Canadian spousal sponsorship.

Some excellent reading on that here:
