So today. Thursday July 19th. My COPR docs came in the mail! Black & white. Hard copy. Right before my very eyes! :D

They came registered delivery and required a signature... Good old CIC dishing out £8.10 to get my docs to me.. All is forgiven!

Possibly going on a border run in the morning...wasting no time!

Fantastic! Very happy for you. Enjoy your border experience. Now for SIN's and job interviews I expect! A drive to Cornwall I expect!

Oh yes! Hitting the road to Cornwall shortly then it will be service ontario and stop at Thums (great Thai place in Cornwall if you're ever passing!) for lunch.

My last morning as a visitor!

Congrats!!!
I’m so happy you posted this! I was leaving this morning and saw the mailman coming. Turned around and was at the door when he came up with a package. Now I have my COPR in my hand!

I received my CoPR today and it’s valid till next year June 2019.
Me and my daughter planned to go to Canada for her birthday in August which is in 2 weeks time. This was planned 8 months ago, and I have a valid ETA. We both from uk British citizens.
Can I just travel to Canada for 2 weeks using the ETA and come back to uk and go back to Canada by next year May 2019 using our CoPR. Please anyone in here have any clue and would advise me pls do thank you.

No, you must land, but you can do a soft landing. You land but do not move to Canada at that time.
Thanks for the reply,
Land but not move yet. So when I’m coming back for good to Canada, I need to have my pr card right? Will the allow me in without my pr card in my hand ? Thanks

Have a read of this. Describes your options pretty well:

https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Landing_as_PR-Canada

So yes, you can travel to Canada as a visitor and NOT declare PR (you don't have to).

Or you can do a soft landing and declare PR on your visit and they can send you a PR Card, but only if you can supply a Canadian residential address.

Note that 'landing to declare PR' and 'landing as a settler' (declaring your goods to follow) can be two separate events (in that order), OR you can do them both at the same time.

Yes. If you do a soft landing, you must EITHER have your PR Card to be able to come in a second time OR you can get a Permanent Residents Travel Document (PRTD) from the Canadian embassy in London - but more forms and a couple of weeks and more money etc.

Your problem is not getting let into Canada, it will be being allowed to board the plane - as airlines have very strict instructions from Canada saying that if they are PR they MUST have either a valid PR Card OR a PRTD.

IF you flew to say the US and got someone to drive from Canada and pick you up, you present your stamped copy of the CoPR at the border to the CBSA agent, he looks you up on the computer and you are in.

Didn't know you don't have to declare, deleted my other post. :)

No you definitely don't have to activate your CoPR on any particular trip to Canada unless you want to.

At most the CBSA agent may mention that you have permission to land as a PR and do you want to do that now. All you have to say is that you don't want to on this particular trip but have a later trip planned before the expiry date when you will activate it. They certainly will not force you.

Thank you for the reply, it really help to clear my doubts,
I just wanted to go to Canada as visitor now just got two weeks, not ready to land there for good. So when I board my flight I just have to show my eta to and when I reach in Toronto airport I just have to show my eta and passport right? Will they ask me any questions about not using my CoPR ? And the link u given just now, I can’t open it . Thanks very much
