So my husband just received an email confirming that Immigration Canada has received his application.

But I'm really confused about one thing..

The email I recieved said: "This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2013/03/11 on behalf of the following member(s): my hubbi's name

The email my husband received says: "This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2013/03/11" (ECAS also has the same date)

How is it possible for the Sydney office to receive my husband's application the same day as the Immigration office in Canada received my application? I thought the spouse's application is forwarded to the relevant visa office once a decision is made, which for me, was April 5.

Could they have made a typo on the date ::)
No, that's right. They acknowledge the date your application was rec'd as the beginning date. You use today's date as the beginning of the permanent residence application. (Stage 2 AOR) Mississauga looked at the whole app when they were approving your sponsorship before they sent it to Sydney.

I have a silly question. I've tried Googling but I can't find anything about this.

We have received the letter from Sydney asking for copies of my husband's passport. I sent them away but now I am second guessing myself as to the address I put for the return documents on the Appendix B sheet they asked me to fill out. Is this where I am meant to put our Canadian address or the address for CoPR. I am pretty sure I have not given them a Canadian address and the website says:

The officer will also use the address on your COPR to have your permanent resident card mailed to you. Make sure your Canadian address on the COPR is correct.

Is your husband in Canada with you? If so, then you want the CoPR sent to your Canadian address. If he's not, then you want the CoPR to go to whatever you have listed as your mailing address. I'm pretty sure that the CoPR itself will have your Canadian address on it so they can send the PR card there once your husband lands. I hope this makes sense. :)

Hi mslectirc,

:) this is a thread for applications through Sydney, so people will be applying outland. If you apply inland the application gets processed in Canada.

Oh ! Silly question I guess...

I think most of the cases are getting processed around 7 months timeline. My husband is an indian and is on bridging visa in Australia currently. We decided to chose Sydney as visa office thinking it will be faster, but seems like its not ..

I have seen lots of cases are done only in 4.5 months through Delhi, India visa office.

I am just shocked that Sydney seems slow as compared to Delhi. ::)

How long has it been for you?
It hasn't been that long since i have applied.. bt m just talking about other cases i have seen on spreadhseet or online. Majority of cases are done in 6-7 months through Sydney..

My application was received by CIC on April 4th. The sponsorship was approved on april 23rd and file was transferred to Sydney on the same day. I am now waiting for stage 2 AOR from sydney. :) ::)

Hi All,
I have a quick question that I thought I'd ask for additional opinions.
My partner renewed his kiwi passport as it was set to expire soon.
Should I send this along to Sydney via email now, (our app has been there for 2 months now, no progress thus far), or wait til they request a scan of the passport?
I can see an argument for both - as now the passport he applied with is no longer valid - but also, this is likely the purpose of the passport request, to get a scan of the current copy. I just don't want to give them more work if its redundant, as they've asked us to refrain from emailing.
Thoughts?
Much appreciated!

Hi nzandcanada,

I would say don't send it until they ask for it. The reason I say this is that you don't have to send the entire thing with your application. I think they will ask you for it again at the end of the process as they may want to know where else your partner has travelled during processing, therefore they would want a most recent copy of it. Just my thoughts though. :)

Congratulations Canstralian/Oznadian!

I got the PPR email today. It was just two hours after I got a reply to an email saying they could not confirm if they had received the additional police checks they requested.

I am trying to work out the best way to have the COPR sent to Canada. Does anyone have any tips? I think we may just go to the UPS store and get them to help us.
