Hello, my partner received his approval as sponsor on August 1, 2014. The letter he received said that the application was been sent to a processing center abroad but did not specify which one. After reading this tread we started to get worried about the fact that they did not specify the office, so this morning my partner called CIC and apparently they changed a bit their process for those application that are considered simple and non-complex in order to speed up the process. these application stay in Missisauga and will be processed in that office. the visa will then come from the office abroad. Apparently mine is one of the first ones to be processed that way. the positive thing is that our case is seen as non complicate which is good but Missisauga already screwed up our application once so I just hope everything goes well.

So if the approval you received did not specify the office call the CIC and ask where your application had actually been sent. I am not sure what the parameters for "non complicate" are but I hope it really is a faster process.

I just know that I need a vacation after I get my PR. It has been very stressful Cool

Apparently their app was for Paris but I know a few Sydney apps have gotten the same letter stating it was at Mississauga. Not sure what that means for us who are already with Sydney. I also would of not thought Sydney would get a lot of complicated apps. but who really knows?

Oh I hope this is the case, and I hope it's faster! I agree I wouldn't have expected Sydney to have many complicated cases, though. Crazy!

Nice to know that those of us being processed this way are being considered "uncomplicated', though! I'm going to be optimistic and take this as a positive sign!

Fingers crossed!

Hi Guys

My application under spouse category is under process in CIC. When I was in New Zealand, I had been given a speed ticket in 2010 ( exceeded 100km/h posted speed limit ) and I paid it next day. I did not declare it in CIC forms as I thought it's not a criminal offence. Will it make me inadmisssible to Canada?

If you mean you were 100 km/h over the limit, you'll need to declare it.
If you just mean you were over 100 km/h (like 115 in a 100 zone), you'll be fine.

You'll be fine. Traffic tickets don't matter - unless they're reckless driving/dangerous driving.

Hi all,

Currently I am filling out application to sponsor my Australian partner. I am a canadian citizen and have been living in Australia with my partner for 6 years. So I am employed here in Australia. Should I be supplying my notice of assessment from Australia and information on income and my employer for Australia? Or do they only care if you have a Canadian job that proves you can support your spouse when living in Canada.
Also is there a form my friends/family need to fill out to say our relationship is real or do we just make up our own.
and... anyone got tips on what to provide that will prove we intend to come to Canada if approved?

Thanks!

you do not need to prove your income as you are the spouse/partner.

My family and friends only wrote letters I don't think there is any special forms for that.

To prove I would return to Canada I wrote a letter explaining that I would return with husband and kids once he recieved his PR. I explained that we would live initially live with my parents until we found jobs and a home of our own and my dad included in his letter saying that he was happy for us to live with them. Some people included moving quotes, job offers ect but I don't have either of those. but as of yet they have not asked for any more proof.

If for some strange reason my husband doesn't have his PR by January and we want to make the move anyway would he need a TRV he is Australian? my initial thought was no as he never needed a visa to visit before. however if it went past the 3 months he would then need to request an extention or leave.

Thanks in advance

Cwish, Gugi123, Grum any news yet?

Australia is visa-exempt:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp?country=Australia

My fiance and I are planning to make the move soon, whether we have the COPR or not. Our plan is for me to enter Canada as a visitor with the intent to wait for my PR from within Canada - from many other stories on these forums it sounds like as long as you a) have sponsorship approval already and b) are from a visa-exempt country, there should be no issues.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/dual.asp

The one thing that is important to pay attention to is that if you plan to fly into Canada on a one-way ticket the airline may not accept it - even if Canadian immigration is OK with it, the airline doesn't know anything about an in-progress PR application and will need an ongoing flight to ensure they don't get stuck with the cost of flying you back out. We may get a fully-refundable flight to show the airline.

I haven't heard anything, still says Application Received every 12 hours i check.
I'm currently in Canada with my partner until Nov when i return home for a month, hopefully to return as a landed resident. It seems a bit odd that Sydney as come to a complete grinding halt.
It doesn't actually bother me to much if Sydney takes a long time as i can still work here whilst on a tourist visa. I work remotely ...... very remotely :)

Thanks for the info Truncat. We've never had a problem with one way tickets before so I am sure we'd be okay this time around too. I'd be prepared to prove that if something went wrong with immigration that we'd be able to purchase another ticket to return home.

Grum I agree that it is odd that Sydney has come to a complete halt! Hopefully soon they will pick up again.

No news...we are coming close to being the longest wait for PPR from S2 AOR... We're at 130 some odd days now since it got to Sydney.
We are leaving Australia in 3 weeks and going to visit bf's family in England for an as yet undetermined amount of time...basically until he gets PPR. Annoying because no matter where we are one of us can't work.
Come onnnnn Sydney!

Good afternoon everyone,
I've been paying attention to the spreadsheet and am a little nervous yet again. We recieved stage 1 approval and message states that processing had commenced for me on the same day that sponsor approval was given which was 24th July. However I still haven't recieved any more news than that. There has been no stage to aor or anything. Is this usual?

I think Sydney usually sends an AOR via email to the applicant (not the sponsor), and like you said from the spreadsheet it looks like between 6 and 18 days after sponsorship approval, so yours being a month is later than usual for stage 2 AOR. I'm assuming you're the sponsor, check with the applicant to see if they got an email? junk folders, etc? The other possibility is some Sydney VO applications have been going to the office at Mississauga to be processed recently. Maybe Mississauga doesn't always send out AORs for the 2nd stage. Can you log in with the applicant's details to ecas?
