Well I arrived home this morning to find a letter from Buffalo in my mail box. I am still waiting to hear via email, so I am just going to wait that out.

They are asking for my FBI certificate, which I mailed and they GOT 9/23. This request is dated 10/15. Oddly, the day I emailed them.
They confirm my medical results received.

I'm not sure what to do. Wait for them to reply -or is this their reply ? I emailed them at 4pm , so it was 5pm there on 10/15. Not sure they'd have processed me in that time?
Frustrating.
I will regardless schedule an appointment for the 2nd print, but I know someone called the MP. Ugh. I know it was received there.

ETA: I opted to email them, I don't want to wait out more days wondering if this was their reply.

Just an update;

Other than landing, we are done. I collected my passport and COPR from CHC-London thursday. My wife returns to Canada next week, i will be joining her as soon as i have sold my house.

Congrats! I hope that the house sells quickly (we sold ours conditionally but it's seeming likely not to happen as they have to sell theirs as well within a month so I feel your situation).

Well, I've been up in Canada for the last few days but chose not to land at the border. I still needed to work on my goods to follow list but the good news is we just bought a house and now all I have to go do is pack up my place up in the states and as of Dec.1st, I will be a landed immigrant. One more month and I will get to live with my husband, FINALLY!!!

New tougher Canada laws to curb illegal immigration
Canada, 25th October: The Canadian government has unveiled new tougher laws to control illegal immigration in the nation.

This will be done by introducing stiff penalties for those involved in human smuggling. Moreover, the federal government has also stated of detaining asylum seekers in Canada.

The main aim will be to crack down on those involved in human smuggling in Canada leading to their prosecution.

Some of the new measures include compulsory detention of human smugglers extending up to 10 years, prison sentences, a waiting period of five years for illegal immigrants wanting to make application for permanent residency in Canada, terminated refugee applications for those returning to their native nation for holidays and holding ship operators and ship owners to make them accountable for using ships in illegal Canada immigration.


The announcement about the new Canada immigration laws for punishing the guilty of illegal immigration in Canada was made by Vic Toews, Canada’s Public Safety Minister and Canadian immigration minister Jason Kenney in Vancouver on Thursday.

The new law states that anyone found to be involved in smuggling of more than 50 people to Canada for monetary reasons while risking his or her own life will have to spend 10 years in jail.

Mr. Toews stated clearly that Canada will not allow abuse of its immigration system either by people smugglers or those not willing to abide by Canada immigration rules.

The new stiffer and harsher penalties for human smugglers in response to the growing human smuggling activities in Canada which proved that Canada is being targeted by human smuggling networks, Toews.

The government of Canada had been promising tougher legislations ever since the officials caught a ship with 500 Tamils on B.C. coast this August. Almost a year ago, around 72 Sri Lankan Tamils had landed on Canada border. All such migrants have asked to be provided refugee status in Canada.

The officials say they have struggled for a long time to put together the rules that were approved by the Canadian PM (Prime Minister) Stephen Harper and cabinet.

The government of Canada stated that it will have to act tough or will be at risk of losing public support for Canada’s generous refugee and immigration system.

• Anyone giving false information about persecution for making refugee claims is likely to face severe punishment as per the Canada immigration laws.

Remember, honesty is, undoubtedly, the best policy if you want to successfully immigrate to Canada and even a small lie might make you pay a heavy price for your mistake.

New to the site and thought I would say hello!

I am sponsoring my partner to move to Canada.

Our app was received July 2nd and the decision was made August 3rd that I was approved as a sponsor.

Our app was received at Buffalo and put into Processing on August 31st.

Since then, nothing has updated. Has anyone else gotten updates on the site? And what Identification # did you use? I have read from different sources that some numbers do not update when others do. Is this true? I am currently using the Client ID that was sent with my letter to check updates.

Also does anyone know if there is a way to speed up the process? I know it says it can take 8 months, but I see people posting on this site that are getting through much faster.

We got a letter today from Buffalo, stating that medical results were received and to pay the RPRF if we haven't done so already and that an interview is not likely.

However, it also asked us to fill out the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union. I was pretty sure that, according to the instruction guide, we did not need to fill out this declaration unless a common-law partner was acting as a co-sponsor. That it was not necessary to fill out if one common-law partner is sponsoring another....

Mostly because, um, we sent in close to 300 pages of proof of our common-law relationship, and I fail to see how us checking little boxes on this form would in any way be preferable to the reams of information we had already sent... ah well. One more hoop to jump through.

Seriously, I just re-read the instructions for this form and it clearly states that we should not be filling it out in our situation. At least we know that our case is in process and being worked on, though, right??

Minna, that's great news - looks like you were approved! I was just wondering if any other common-law applicants had heard anything.

I heard somewhere else that Buffalo asks for the Statutory Dec of Common Law Union sometimes (even though, you're right, it is not a requirement).
