I'm not sure where you had this question regarding the work situation.
But for the duration you should put temporary more than 6 months to get the BOWP. If choosing permanent it will tell you to go to EE.
In the questions I selected I'm planning to work, for more than 6 months and then after a couple more questions it shows I'm eligible for an open work permit.
There was a question: does one of the following apply to you, and there I selected yes for application for permanent, first stage approval (AOR).

Thank you soo much fonteynb, I did change my answer from NO to YES, now my checklist changed. I no longer see or being required to submit other documents, just the basics.

Just an additional question fonteynb if I may, after you have uploaded all your documents and payed the fees, did you continue submitting your application online? or did you submit it snail mail via CPC ?

I submitted it online mainly because it was faster then post, although now it looks like the difference between online/post is not that big anymore. Anyway my employer also handled another closed WP application (based on pending LMIA application) which is still pending. I didn't want to risk to not get the LMIA in time, so I continued with the BOWP (although the lawyer said it was unlikely it would be approved). So I was kind of betting on both.
What I liked on the online application is that you can follow the status. Like some times there were update mails for it, which gives you the idea it is still in progress.
