I wanted to ask this here on the forums to get a clear answer - perhaps from someone with first hand experience.

I applied to sponsor my husband outland in March 2016. We just received SA. I am contemplating taking a temporary (1yr) job out of country and want to know if this will jeopardize/delay our application in anyway?

I asked a CIC agent and he said that because I am a citizen it shouldn't cause any problems. Has anyone gone through this?

Seeing as you can sponsor someone without needing to be in Canada - I do not see how this could be a problem.

One thing you need to keep in mind though is there is an expiration to the CoPR document (your spouse has a limited amount of time to do their landing).

If you are Canadian, then it is not a problem. However you may be asked to provide proof of coming back to Canada once your husband get PR.

If you are PR, you cannot take any oversea jobs. You must remain in Canada for the entire duration until husband land as PR.

You will have to show intentions of settling permanently in Canada once PR is granted to your husband. Job offers, rental/mortgage agreements etc.

One way this could cause an issue is if you sign a one year contract and processing is complete in under a year. CIC then may doubt your intention to move back to Canada immediately upon visa issuance.
