Surrender and OCI questions

Hello Everyone,

I've few questions about surrendering passport and to apply for OCI.

I've applied to Surrender certificate on Indian embassy website on Nov 18 and they are showing a filled up form without photo and signature. Also, I've booked up a appointment on BLS for 23 Nov.

My Questions:
1. Will my original documents be returned to me at same time or they will be sent back along with certificate?
2. There is a status tracker on Indian embassy site, will it start only after my appointment?
3. While I'm in BLS for surrender certificate, Can i apply for OCI in parallel or do I have to wait for surrender certificate?
4. On BLS website, it says processing time for surrender certificate is minimum 7-8 weeks, is it really takes that much time only for certificate?

were you able to get the surrender certificate?
