Super visa - Insurance and length of post-Covid processing times

Hi folks,

I began looking into applying for a super visa for my parents and I am very confused about the medical insurance requirement, given processing time.

Currently, the estimated processing time for people from my country for super visa is 621 days - almost TWO years. And yet the requirements state that one must also provide
proof of payment for medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is:

• valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry

I cannot see how it is possible for me to purchase insurance ahead of the application when the application may take 2 years to finish processing. Am I missing something? Am I supposed to set the insurance start date for, say, 2 years from now and pay for it now?

Posted processing times are often incorrect and are likely based on periods during Covid. Processing times can take from weeks to months. Supervisa insurance must be purchased before you apply for a supervisa but start date will be determined based on when your parent travels
