I searched the forum but have not really found any post that can give me answers to my particular question.
I have a parent who has the super visa. The parent would like to come to Canada on the super visa to stay here for under 6 months. Can that parent purchase their own medical insurance from their country of origin or do I have to purchase insurance from a Canadian insurance company for the parent?

The rules changed recently so you can currently purchase supervisa insurance from an insurance company outside of Canada. It must be supervisa travel medical insurance and not general travel medical insurance. You may want to look for feedback from visitors (or their families) when it came to processing claims from insurance companies outside of Canada especially if larger claims.
