Success rate of departing from US with valid COPR

Hi everyone,
This is may be a silly question, but I am trying to assess the risks. I have a valid COPR (until October). I’ve been stuck in Canada as a visitor. I was travelling when the borders closed and I got my COPR sent to me from the US, where I applied. Now my employer is telling me I have to try and take a return trip to the US to validate PR. I’m worried about being denied boarding by the airline and getting stuck in the US. Trying to figure out what the risk of that is. Thank you all and stay safe.

Based on my understanding, you can come back to Canada with a COPR through a land POE as long as you can show the CBSA officer that you are not ‘soft landing.’ I would raise a web form to ask IRCC if they can validate your COPR online (virtual landing) as you are already in Canada.

This would probably be considered non essential travel and also even if you managed it you would need to quarantine for 14 days. If you were still living in the US there is an exemption as per link but as you are a visitor in Canada.

But of course this is just a public forum so maybe contact CBSA and an airline given they have the last word.

Note one thing for sure is flagpoling from within Canada is currently not allowed

Thank you both. I have contacted IRCC about virtual landing more than once, and they just keep sending me a generic email with the info on the website.
I called them also, and the agent said doing a return trip (by air) is fine, but they can’t guarantee the airline will let you board. My primary address and employer is in the US, but yes, the problem is that I got stuck in Canada while travelling. I’d rather not do this, but then I’ll lose my job and will have to repatriate to my home country anyway.
