Hello
I am a US citizen but live and work in Canada.
I am travelling to US for work for 1 week and hold a valid US passport.
My Canadian PR card is expired and I am currently waiting on my new one to be issued.
If it has not been issued at the time of my travel, will I have difficulty re-entering Canada?
I’ve read I might need a PRTD to enter since my PR card has not been received yet, but that seems strange. Can’t I just enter Canada as a visitor and then when I receive my PR card just continue on working in Canada?
Any advice will be very helpful as I am set to travel June 9th.

-The big thing for almost all PRs without a valid card is they can't board a plane without one (or a PRTD). IRCC won't issue them a 'visa' or an ETA - only a PRTD. (They can go to land border if they can travel through USA).
-US citizens are an exception from this rule. The only issue - rare - is that sometimes the airlines don't know this. I just wouldn't engage with the airline or discuss where you live or on what basis. US citizens don't need - here's my passport. (The airlines usually have to clear passenger manifests anyway so final decision is with CBSA - you can tough it out with the airline and tell them to check with CBSA).
-BUT: when arriving, you should not identify as a visitor - tell the truth, you're a PR. You can show CBSA your expired PR card - just tell them you applied for a new one and waiting.

-If you're crossing at a land border, no issue at all. Again, you're a PR, show them your expired card, etc.
