Hello everyone.
Need guidance about the delay in PR card.
PR card was renewed in 2021 but then my spouse was out of canada , IRCC asked to collect in person . She went back to canada with PRTD in 2024 and applied for card renewal in may 2024. At that time 20 months were inside canada since last five years. Three months ago IRCC sent email that PR has been approved but now an email mail from IRCC has been received asking for travel history and reason for travelling from may 2019 till present date. Could u plz guide what is this and is there any issue with PR renewal?

Has she been in Canada since May 2024? Is she still compliant with her RO?

I

n last six years she has stayed inside canada for 3 years but at the time in may 2024 she had completed 20 months in last five years.

What about the last 5 years? Why did she apply to renew her PR card when she was not compliant with her RO in 2024. She should have waited until she was back in compliance.

She got her first PR in 2016 and in 2021 her PR card was renewed however since she was outside canada when card was renewed and was asked to collect in person which she couldn’t and PR card was discarded after 180 days. Then she went back again in 2024 feb through PRTD assuming that she will get the PR card replaced as it was already approved by IRCC but was discarded as she couldnt collect it , so it wasnt in her mind that she has to meet the obligation of completing 2 years in 5 years to get the card.

The day when she applied for PR in 2024 she had lived for 20 months and is till in Canada after applying for more than 15 months.

RO is a rolling total obligation so she needs to meet RO on any day past the original 5 years. She applied when she didn’t meet RO which has lead to this ongoing issue. She should not leave until she gets a new PR card.

Since august 2020 to august 2025 she has stayed in canada for two years out of five years . But she applied for renewal of card in may 2024 and past five years from that time i.e may 2019 she stayed inside canada for 20 months and not 24 months. The visa officer has asked history from may 2019 till present date. So in total the visa officer asked for travel history for six years. Also asked if she is currently inside canada. Copies of passport pages showing entry exit and reason of travel. Children are canadian nationals born inside canada.

Status shows Decision made and after contacting IRCC they replied that ‘we are pleased to inform that ur PR has been approved’ . This email was in reply to her email, received by her on june 4 ,2025. However another email was received a few days before asking for travel history reasons and where she is residing currently.

Whether children are Canadian has no impact on her RO. How many days has she spent in Canada in the past 5 years? IRCC is asking for her travel history because she wasn’t compliant with her RO when she applied and they are concerned that she isn’t compliant now. They also want to ensure she is in Canada. They likely approved and then reopened her file out of concern she may not be compliant with her RO now or has left Canada. Is the rest of the family living and working in Canada?

She has stayed for more than 730 days in the last five years from today. She is currently in canada. Her family is out of canada for now on a visit. What should we be expecting now and any timeframe. She has replied to the email sent by IRCC asking for travel history and her present location.
