Hi everyone,
My fiance is a canadian citizen and I am a Brit. We are currently living in UK, but planning to move back to Canada in Spring this year.
We applied for Family class sponsorship for me last May. My fiance got approval as a sponsor in August and the case was transferred to Case Processing Centre in Ottawa

We have sent loads of information and documents including....
1. Declaration of Common Law Union
2. Certificate of Honourable discharge from the British army
3. List of dates and duration of visits to: Aus, NZ, Thai, Mal, Viet, Camb, Laos, USA
4. Sponsors intention to reside in Canada
5. A Further request for to prove her intention to relocate to Canada was sent in November.
Then in December we had a request from CPC to get RCMP fingerprint check done – WITHIN 60 DAYS

After sorting out fingerprints, sending them to be digitized in canada and finally forwarding them to RCMP we received the Fingerprint check certificate 3 days ago and sent it by courier to Ottawa. It arrived there yesterday - 21st January.

So my question is - Does anyone know how far along the process we are? Is the finger print check one of the final things before approval is given, or are there yet more hoops for us to jump through? We are now avidly checking emails twice a day in the hope we will hear some news. But if anyone out there has been through the process and knows how long is left before a decision or what we can expect next, we would be very happy to hear from you. Any info or tips would be great!! Thank you.

Does anyone have any ideas abou this? Thanks :o

Hi Rickd288:

I am in the same boat. Got a FP request today, after night months from initial application to CIC. Did Also medical test in Jun and since then my online status still the same.

Did you figure out how longer does the process takes after the RCMP finger print submission?

I will keep this post also updated if I got some news.

Seems to me that CIC just started a wave of FP requests. They should take while, but have not yet figure out how long from other posts.

Thanks
Kiandr

Hey Kiandr,
No , still no news yet.
I did contact CIC to check they received the certifiicate from RCMP and they confirmed that they did. But said my application is still 'in progress',
Guess I will have to sit and wait!

I can only speak for what happened to us but...we sent my wife's RCMP check to Vienna VO and she received Decision Made about a week after VO received the results. But like I said, that is what happened to us. Good luck, hopefully you receive the same results!

I'm curious to know why they are asking for Rcmp finger prints . I'm puzzled if you haven't lived in Canada .

Taffy - Although I havent actually officially lived in Canada as a resident - I spent 18 months there with my now fiance. We went through all the correct procedures in order for me to stay over there - applying for and receiving two extensions to my 6 month visitors visa. We didnt actually have to do this but wanted everything to be above board and documented. Im guessing that this is why they asked for a fingerprint check!

Hi guys

I am just curious. Did they do the fingerprints in paper or electronic format? The reason i am asking is that my husband has applied for PR from India , they called him for fingerprints in Nov 2014. till date our application is still showing in process.

I contacted RCMP here in canada and they say its not in their system yet. its been >2months . dont understand what to do...can we reapply electronically for the prints on our own?

Thanks

I guess that's why they are asking you now for fingerprints. Canada generally does there own police checks. We want to cover all the bases but sometimes we go above and beyond what they are asking for.
