Hi everybody !

I am new here and i hope i can take advantage of your advice. :)
2 years back when i applied for Canadian permanent residentship my life was completely different compared to now. So at that time I had hopes to go and live in Canada where most of my family members are living. but then I happened to get a position in the US and i started working in the US. In the meantime my immigration paperwork was in process till i got the last step done and now i have to land in Canada before June this year. The reason of burdening u with all this is that i am planning to start studying in the US and if i start it i'll be in the US for the next 4 years and i don't get the chance to be in Canada and my PR card will be canceled.
i am wondering if anyone of u has had this situation or know anyone in the same situation. Do you know if there is any exception to the rule of staying 2 years in 5 years in Canada to renew the PR card for people who are studying in another country?
It's a very confusing situation and I am hoping to keep both of them at the same time .
Your help and advice would be appreciated

Are you working for a Canadian company, or are you in the USA with a Canadian citizen (your partner)?

If you do not meet the requirements to maintain PR by being outside of Canada for 4 years (see CIC website for other conditions), then you are likely to lose your Canadian Permanent resident status.
