Hello All,

I have a 3 year diploma in electrical engg. but after that I did a computer software programing course and a computer hardware course, after which I joined a computer software company and started as a graphics designer. I have been doing graphic design now for the last 13.5 years. What I would like to know is that if I can enroll myself into a 1 year or a 2 year graphic design course in a university in Canada. I'm currently looking to get enrolled either in Emily Carr or Sheridan.

If someone can guide me here that would be really great.

Thanks

Where are you currently residing? I would imagine if you have been doing graphic design for over 13 years, the CIC might question why you are doing a course in a subject you have so much experience in.

I'm from India. The main reason I wanna do this 1. Get a certification from a Canadian University which will boost my career growth and get me better opportunities 2. I plan to move to Canada sometime in the near future and having a Canadian education will help me get a better job in Canada.

U already know how to structure that in your SOP which already makes sense to me. But don't mention you have any plans to move to Canada at all. Just make them understand that u Wanna give back massively to that sector in your home country professionally. My 2cent advice...go for it because it's makes sense to even a child let alone V.O

Agree with previous poster that given you have worked for over 10 years as a graphic designer it will be difficult to justify getting a degree at that point. Is there another degree that would enhance your skills as a graphic designer? Also stating that you want to study in Canada so you have Canadian education when you immigrate is not a good reason or something you should say in an SOP. Have you looked at economic streams of immigration to see if you would qualify?

So what do you suggest? Should I look for some other stream besides graphics that would enhance my skill and what I would have to offer to the industry onec I do that?
