Study Permit Extension

Hey guys,

I've applied for study permit extension on 7th June, 2015.

Till date there is no notification. Study permit expires on 31 July 2015

Anyone can throw some light on it or anyone in the same situation.

Hi ankurkool, I applied for an extension on May 17th and I still don't have a decision on my application.
My SP expired on June 30th and I thought I won't be able to apply for the PGWP before then so I applied for a SP extension.
Turns out my school released my documents just on time and I was able to apply for the PGWP on June 27th.
So I have 2 pending applications right now but no updates yet on both

Yeah idk what's up with CIC? like it's so slow tho specially for you. hope they release mine before my SP expires though.

I applied for a SP extension on June 8th and haven't heard anything yet. Looks like processing is a little slower because I have heard that in the past it took like 14-21 days. I saw the processing time is 77 days for online applications as of June 26th. However, some folks have received their extensions much faster than that. I saw someone who applied May 8th and got theirs on June 12. So a little over a month. I am hoping I hear something this upcoming week. Will post if I do.

I applied for an extension on may 28 and on 29 I got an email saying your application updated but nothing was there in the mycic account .....anyone with the same scenario??

Same thing happened to me. Applied June 8th and got an update email on June 9th. I wasn't expecting it to be processed by then but it was odd. Maybe it was just that the file was complete and they started processing it.

do we get a confirmation letter on our cic saying that the student permit has been approved? If so, how long does that take? and can that be shown the university and attend classes while waiting for the paper copy of student permit?

If you apply before the expiration of your study permit then you are in implied status. So I believe you can attend classes. There is a document in your CIC account that acknowledges that you have applied for an SP extension. I think that should be sufficient. I would also go talk to the International Office at your university to let them know and they can probably help you out as well.

Once the application is approved, you get a message and a document you can download verifying that your application has been approved. However, the permit itself comes through post.

I'm going from Worker status to student. I've applied for student permit to go to school in the fall. Do you know how soon after applying for SP do people usually get the online confirmation?

The confirmation is usually within 24 hours. Once you apply you will get a message in your CIC inbox and the confirmation letter should be attached to that message. You can download it from there.

So your case is a little different since you are not applying for an extension but a change of status. I think you should consult someone at your university's international office. someone there should be able to advise you.
