Study permit expiration, can I work?

My passport along with my study permit expired on the 9th of
April 2023, I first had to renew my passport in order to reapply for my study permit which I did on the 9th of may, am I still able to work since I applied for a new one or must I wait for a new permit first ?

Are you saying that you applied for a new study permit on he 9th of May?

Assuming so, did you also apply to restore your status?

No. if your study permit expired on April 9 and you didn’t extend the permit before the date, you had to have stopped studying and working.
