Hi guys,
I will be graduating in August 2019 and my passport expires in March 2020. For a reason that remains a mystery to me, I was given a Study Permit with an expiry date of March 2019. Here is my problem... I am traveling home in December for a few weeks and will be back in early January. I could renew my passport as soon as I am back to Canada and then apply for an extension of my Study Permit, but I am worried with the time constraint (given my current permit is valid until March 2019).
I can't renew my permit too early because my school (Douglas College in BC) won't give students an enrolment letter more than 3 months before the permit expires. I was wondering if I could renew my passport, get an eTA visa, travel home, re-enter Canada with my current Study Permit and both new and old passport. Once back to Canada I would apply for the extension of my Study Permit. Would that work?
Or if you guys have other ideas I would love to hear them!
Thanks!
