Hi,

I've read here that you can apply for an Open Work Permit when applying for sponsorship (spouse) and be permitted to work once you get the "AIP", for an inland application. But I was wondering if you could also apply for something like an Open Student Permit as well, so that you can be permitted to study at a University for example, while waiting for the final PR approval.

Thanks in advance.

You would have to apply for a regular study permit. There are no open study permits.

OK, but you'd have to have some offer of acceptance from the University then right? Could you apply for the Study Permit at any time while inside Canada and waiting for the "AIP" or is that a problem?

Yes - you would have to have an offer of acceptance from a university or college first.

OK, but it's not a problem to apply for a Study Permit while inside Canada with an inland application for spousal sponsorship under review...after the first stage approval?

Hi, I am in a similar situation. I am filing for a spousal PR ( I'm the applicant) in December and I will also be under a student permit in Ontario. What would I say to the CIC as far as my status in Canada? Do I declare both if I decide to visit my parents in the US then return to Ontario? Or do I just pick one or the other? I'm filing outland if that makes any difference.
