Open Work Permit for the spouse using AOR received from inland PR application

Sorry to piggy back off this post. I tried to make my own but similar situation I didn’t know about the whole AIP situation. The lawyer told us AOR was enough so now that we got rejected for work permit because we didn’t have AIP, do we wait and reapply with AIP then? What if my husband stays and doesn’t leave since his PR is processing.

Not sure if this is accurate. I submitted spousal application for my wife inland and with AOR, we submitted for work permit and she got the work permit. We didn’t receive our AIP yet.

Were you out of status? AOR is enough as long as you have maintained status, but if you go out of status and can't restore, then it seems - based on other reports on this forum - that you need AIP to be able to successfully.
