Can someone confirm this for me, or head me into the right direction where I can find more information. I remember reading once on here that if a course is under 6 months, a study visa is not needed. Is this true? If so, where could I find more information on this?

Thanks.

Actually, I took courses when I lived in the US and never had to get a visa. It's not nonsense. I was also able to get a driver's license. It might not be the same for Canada, so do some more checking...

Call CiC to get a valid confirmation that this is nonsense.

Hm, according the the Canadian government its not nonsense.

1. Do I need a study permit to study at a Canadian educational institution?

More Information.

Canadian colleges, universities, technical institutes and other educational institutions encourage applications from qualified international students. If you are going to study in Canada for more than six (6) months, you need a study permit. Applicants going to study in any field in Canada for six (6) months or less do not require a Study Permit and can be apply for visitor visas. However, this applies only if the full course will be completed in six six months or less. You cannot go to Canada on a visitor visa and study the first six months of a longer course without a study permit and then obtain a permit later.
