    Expat Tax Experts?

Thanks to you as well. I already filed my tax return for 2013 and no problem. I didn't file for 2012; I just sent a declaration of my worldwide income. I have records of the official tax documents from the Chinese authorities, so I am not concerned with having to pay the difference. If...

    Expat Tax Experts?

It depends on whether Qatar has a tax treaty with Canada. I worked in China and did not have to pay tax to CRA because China and Canada have a tax treaty, so I cannot be taxed twice. I just filed my return for 2013 (I know, kind of late!) and no problems with CRA.

    School Boundaries

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has been able to figure out a way around the school boundary issue. We want to send our son to French Immersion, but the school in our boundary is not very good and quite overcrowded. However, there is another French school within the boundary where my...

    Please offer some insight...

Hi there, I would like to know if it would be difficult for my wife's mom (my wife is a PR and I am a citizen) to come over for a visit? We are still sorting out our employment, but things should be settled very soon (we just arrived last month). My wife's mom is now retired, but she does own...

    Foreign Service - Strike?

The only way a protest would work is if you have large numbers (in the thousands) and the media backing the protest...or at least reporting on it. If not, you are just wasting your time. Immigration to Canada is not a right, so most people wouldn't care about your immigration problems. This...

    lost appeal

OP: It's bad news that you got rejected, but there must have been solid reasons for CIC to do so... Forget about the advice that some have given you regarding the whole idea of having a baby to get the PR visa. This is not right on so many levels. What you should be doing is looking at the...

Getting Media to Notice Increasing timelines for Pakistan Sponsorship

Pakistan has all the characteristics of what Chomsky would call a 'failed state'. This has a lot to do with why it is taking so long to process applications. The Canadian government has the right to decide how long the immigration process takes. It's frustrating, but this is how it works...

    Hong Kong timeline

It took about 3 months. HK will send the package with your wife's passport to the post office. China post will leave a notice of delivery in the mailbox, but seeing as your wife doesn't have a mailbox, I'm assuming they will either leave it under her door or call her when the package arrives. Getting Media to Notice Increasing timelines for Pakistan Sponsorship

Personally, I like that Canada scrutinizes applicants from that part of the world. I know it sucks for the innocent, but let's be honest...there are terrorism concerns. If you deny that, well, you're not living in the real world. FS

    Hong Kong timeline

I think you need to do some research. Read the guides. You can apply whenever you want. Money is not an issue for family class immigration. No one can help you with your feelings of missing your family. That's on you. It's hard, but you can always fly to HK to visit them...or they can...

The HK office uses regular post to send the passport back...that's what I was referring to when I mentioned our experience with China Post. FS

    Hong Kong timeline

The HK visa office will not send you notification that they received the package. You have to track it via SF-Express. My wife's passport took a bit longer than the 20 days, but that was because China Post held it for about a week (it was during a holiday period). A passport request from the...

    Is this normal?

It doesn't matter...I was just curious. It shows complete now. Nice screenshot for memories.... FS

    Is this normal?

Landed on Jan 30th and received PR card about 4 weeks later. E-cas still shows 'Decision Made'. I was expecting it to change to 'Complete'. Thanks, FS

    Tired of the Complaining

Ours was also done very quickly...the longest part was for sponsorship approval. HK is a very fast VO, so I don't think 4 months is cause for suspicion. After my wife got her visa, I stopped coming to this site. There was really no more point in posting, and having an 18-month old is very...

    Songkran

I'll never forget my third Songkran. Driving towards the Kowsan (sp?) area and I see what appeared to be a girl with a white t-shirt...as I got closer, I could see she was drenched...then as she neared the car I realized it was a ladyboy...it was shocking and hilarious...but mostly...

How to file official complaints against CIC services, performance, ...?

What problem does the OP have? He is still within normal processing, so what's the problem? Sure the system has issues, but only for the minority, not the majority. The truth is, most get through without any drama. Some do not, but this is the way it is...people need to learn how to deal...

I lived in canada and want to share experience

It's not true that employers only look at Canadian experience. I have been an expat for years and I have built a great resume with tons of experience. I have loads of excellent reference letters from employers, colleagues, and professors. You're trying to tell me that all this won't matter...
