I got my visa on the 27th July 2013 but I only saw the validity period of my stay in Canada without a clear indication of work permit .
please tell me, do I need to apply for a work permit or the student visa automatically qualifies me to work ?

Student Visa gives you authorisation to do on-campus work for 20 hours a week. After six months of your studies, you can apply for off-campus work permit and work off-campus for 20 hours a week. During holidays, you can work off and on campus fulltime. Do not work off-campus unless you have your work permit. It is illegal.
