I am waiting to hear about a medical request (hopefully) in the next couple of wks. My CEC PR application has been in since August 2012. My current work permit expires June 8 and I have also applied for the BOWP.

Question is – if I don’t hear back about my PR & the BOWP before June 8th – must I stop working or am I able to continue working as I am going through the PR process???

you can continue working until you receive your BOWP... u will be on implied status and can legally work until you hear from them.

i was in the same situation couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the reply.

You can work even if they haven’t opened/started processing the BOWP application? They have slowed down in relation to processing times. What`s not to say the application got lost in the post, I could work away and not know for a while?

Obviously, just stating a pretty unique scenario - but just want to make sure I don’t do anything that would "hurt" me in the future in regards to PR.

Cheers..

Once you have filed your application, your status is implied until a decision is made. If they never received your application, then you don't have implied status as your application needs to be submitted (always use a service with a tracking number when sending items to the CIC).

There was a case in another thread recently where someone's WP application was lost in the mail, and the CIC used some discretion in restoring his status - however, as above, always use a service that you can track documents.

Not that unique, this is pretty much how implied status works for everyone. As long as you have submitted the application, you are under implied status. You can continue doing the same job until you hear back from CIC.

You can also call the automated answering system and check whether they have received your application in the mail, granted it's been a few weeks since you mailed it.
