Status from Sydney changed. Why?

Hi guys. I sent my updated application and documents to Buffalo on April 8th 2009. I have not received the AOR yet from them. However, when I received the letter from Sydney requesting me to submit my documents to Buffalo, on that letter there was a file number. Every time I used to check, it used to say "withdrawn". Today it changed to "in process". What does that mean if I did not even receive an AOR from Buffalo?

it could mean your AOR is in either in their internal postal system or the external postal system.

i think rupesh means your letter is either being processed in CIC office or its in the mail.
i have the same situation as you. i used the sydney file number and its now "in process". previously it was withdrawn. now, i'm wondering if all the visa offices will issue a new file number and send a new AOR or they have processed our application and will not send a new AOR but use the old one.

It would be great if they processed our application. But I think they either sent us the AOR or o the process of doing it. Since when has your file changed to "in process"?

when i checked it 2 weeks ago it was "withdrawn"
when i checked again yesterday its now " in process" but i have not received a new AOR from manila since i sent docs march 27, while the usa applicants received theirs in a months time. that's why i'm wondering if the visa offices follow the same procedure or not? check trackitt, myloveandi from nigeria received an email for medical request without a new aor and file number.

Is that possible not to received an AOR from Buffalo because they might process my case using the file number issued by Sydney? Is that possible fo them to request medical even passport without issuing a new file and without receiving the AOR?

The same thing happened to me yesterday. Checking my status online using the file No from Sydney, it showed "withdrawn". As per yesterday, it was showing "in process". Weird if I am still to receive an AOR from Buffalo. Hope this is excellent news.

Same here. When I click in Process link , it suggests that the application is transferred to Islamabad office and they may contact me. Unfortunately, I did not track record of when it changed from withdrawn to in process.

I guess it may be good news. I heard that some cases, they send the AOR along with request for medical and passport. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Mine is same. Status changed but no response from local visa office. Strange that so far all those who hv received aor (and posted in this forum) from local visa office have again received new file no. Hence do not see merit in updating ecas for old file no.

i thing they have stoped sending aor and new file number from local CHC , that is why they have changed sydny Ecas.
isnt it?

it could be. maybe the process is changed now and will only get your AOR from local visa office with your medical request.

When I submitted my full application (in person), I asked if I would receive a new file number and the lady said "I don't think so"!
I have not yet received the new AOR (submitted on April 17th) and my online status in NOT working at all so I cannot say if there has been a change. The instructions (OP6) however clearly say that you will have a new file number within a month after a check for the completeness of the documents.
